Before going into the waves we must know that each spot is different for surfing, due to the intensity of its winds and also to the topography of the seabed, and others. The topography directly influences the shape of the wave, and the wind determines its intensity. For example on sandy beaches, good waves are usually caught because the shape of the bottom where they break constantly changes. In this post we will talk about some maneuvers that are basic for beginner surfers and others that present a greater degree of difficulty, but with the frequent practice all can be made and advance in this sport.
8 Surfing Tips
1-Take Off
It is the first maneuver that is learned in surfing, it is when you stop rowing lying on the board to get to stand on it. It is the opposite maneuver to the Cut Back.
2-Cut Back
When escaping from the break you must make a turn of almost 180º to return to the wall of the wave.
3-Snap
Is another of the basics of surfing, is to change the direction of the table in a direction perpendicular to the one that is carried.
4-Bottom Turn
It is the first turn after the take off, to be able to leave the wave when it is breaking.
5-Reentry
To perform this trick we must climb to the crest of the wave, quickly make a 180 degree turn and lower again.
6-360º
Is very similar to doing a Reentry but this time turning until reaching the 360 degrees.
7-Floater
It consists of making a Snap and quickly mount the edge of the wave, sliding us on the foam of the surf. This trick is one of the most difficult.
8-Tube
Is the maneuver that every surfer wants to achieve. They may be waiting for many hours for the perfect wave. As is known, it consists of sliding through the tube that creates the wave upon breaking and remaining as long as possible inside it.
A good technique to increase speed in the water, is to throw the arms forward and push your body to surpass the more aggressive parts of the wave.
Before making any movement you should always turn the head first, visualize where you want to go and then accompany that movement with the arms, hip and table.
Finally we will mention that the quality of the waves is also affected by the state of the tides. Before going to surf, we must check that the weather conditions are adequate. It is very important to know if there is a risk of surfing there.
Remember that when a slight wind blows from the coast towards the wave is when the optimal condition is given to surf the best waves!
