Many times you may have some kind of confusion when talking about these three types of vehicles. Today we tell you some differences that will help you choose
Types and models
RVs
The models range from the most basic and economical, similar to tents to the most comfortable, with rooms, furniture and equipment for the home
Trailers
Fifth wheel trailers: They have greater load capacity, carry a heavy duty coupling with gooseneck shape at the front and a hook pin at the bottom that increases stability
Towing Popup: they are smaller, lighter to carry and easier to park. They can be towed with a medium minivan. They usually have a canvas roof that expands and include kitchen, shower and a toilet
Auto caravans
Class A are large, resemble buses. They can have more than six rooms equipped, complete kitchens and with additional storage. They are ideal units to spend a few weeks traveling
Class B trucks are also known as “Camper vans” smaller than those of class A and C. They have basic equipment but very comfortable and are suitable for short trips
Class CÂ are the largest and most comfortable. Ideal to travel long distances with the family. They have all the amenities and extra storage space
Capacity
RVs:
They usually have room for four people to sleep comfortably
Trailers:
They are very versatile and can sleep six or more people
 Auto caravans:
Class A accommodates six or more people. The class B, for 2 or 3 travelers and class C, offer generous space, ideal for large families.
3- Motor
Motor homes: they do not have an engine, so they must be towed by a road vehicle
Trailer: Needs to be moved by some motor vehicle, which will be released once the trailer is parked. They are usually pulled by V8 pickups, some minivans or trucks
Auto caravans are vehicles driven by their engines (gasoline or diesel) of sufficient size to easily move them along the road
Advantages and disadvantages
RVs
- Advantage: The tow vehicle can be uncoupled from the trailer for use in the city
- Disadvantage: In some camp sites you must pay fees
Trailers
- Advantage: they have fewer things that break, require less maintenance
- Disadvantage: The total length involved in bringing the tow vehicle plus the trailer, makes some driving maneuvers difficult
Auto caravans
- Advantage: you can make a pleasant trip in Class A and Class C
- Disadvantage: the bigger it is, the repairs are more expensive
