Environmental awareness is increasingly widespread worldwide and has also reached the world of caravans and motorhomes. Today we will tell you about electric caravans, their characteristics and the benefits they provide.
Some prototypes are already presented in the market they have hybrid motors that mix an internal combustion engine with an electric one. Some models allow a connection for their load of up to 22 KW although there are also 3.6 KW.
The electric motorhomes are already here!!
They are sustainable vehicles that little by little will be consolidated among the people who love caravans, who value non-pollution and promote respect for the environment.
With respect to their travel autonomy, it is the point that is still in development and needs to be perfected, since the models presented so far only offer between 200km and 300km. It is expected that new proposals will be launched with batteries that provide twice the autonomy.
The Mercedes Company announced the launch of its range of electric vans: the eVito model will have an 84Kw engine and travel autonomy of 150km. He has also presented his prototype Sprinter F-Cell Concept that works with hydrogen fuel cell that gives a range of 500 km and thanks to its electric batteries, you can get about 30km of extra autonomy.
For its part, Ford offers us the Ford Transit model, a plug-in hybrid that allows the battery to be recharged directly from the electric grid and, together with its combustion engine, effectively increases its autonomy over long distances.
The well-known German firm Dethleffs is developing its all-electric model, with electric motor of 80kw, 107 HP with 280km of autonomy. It also has solar panels that offer up to 3000kw of extra energy to be used in the air conditioning system, lighting and for the use of household appliances. Mounted on an Iveco Daily chassis, it is made of intelligent materials, using the ICON construction system.
Other companies have presented their projects to convert their current versions of caravans, motorhomes and campers to electric, which are now combustion.
Until now, the mentioned ones are only prototypes, although it is foreseen that for this year 2019 sustainable models will be launched for sale.
The only motorhome model with zero emissions that is currently on sale is the Iridium EV manufactured by WOF and EFA-S. It costs around 170.000 Euros and carries a rechargeable 106kwh battery in charging points of up to 100kw, which gives it a range of 300 km.
At the moment we continue to expect more news on the subject, wishing that many more manufacturers are betting on sustainability in their designs and go on sale.
