Fuerteventura has many incredible places to discover, and if we can do it without paying much better! In this post we list ten activities that can be done without spending, from walks along the beautiful beaches (with or without clothes) to hitch-hike to reach some town and know their historical charms.
What to do in Fuerteventura
1-Walks on Las Dunas de Corralejo
In reality it is a single beach, but it is divided into smaller ones, each one receiving a different name. They are more than 11 km of dunes to enjoy, declared Natural Park of Corralejo in 2002. The swell is moderate although quite windy. We can protect ourselves from the wind in small walls made of volcanic stone.
2-Hitch-hike to Playas de El Cotillo

3-Visit the craft market in Corralejo
On Thursdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in this market in the Campanario Shopping Center we will find articles of decoration, necklaces, earrings, bracelets handmade with materials that the island provides and also recycled. They are exclusive products ideal to carry a beautiful souvenir of island.
 4- Hitch-hikie to Betancuria
 It is interesting to know the history of Betancuria. This village is next to an old dry riverbed and was the old capital of Fuerteventura until 1834. We can visit the museum of artisans know the archaeological museum or visit the Church of Santa Maria to contemplate its beautiful Baroque altar of the XVII century
5- Discovering viewpoints
 Some that we can find in the island are 4 viewpoint, in Pájara. Mirador Guise and Ayose, Mirador Morro Velosa, Mirador Risco de las Peñas and Mirador de los Canarios. Depending on the viewpoint, you can see the JandÃa Peninsula, the Cardón Mountain, the Betancuria valley or see the north and south of the island.
6-Outdoor activities
The municipality of Corralejo offers various recreational activities on the beach, such as free concerts. You can also watch the Fuerteventura Kite Festival, held in November at the beach of the Dunes National Park of Corralejo.
7-Hitch-hike to Lajares
In Lajares you can see the two windmills that are in the village of Casas de Arriba. Explore El Calderón Hondo, one of the best preserved volcanoes has a crater 70 meters deep. The access is simple by well marked and comfortable roads and from the viewpoint you can see the rest of the volcanoes that surround the area.
8-Climb to the volcano of Tindaya
Tindaya is the oldest mountain in the Canary Islands. It is situated in La Oliva and its highest point is 401 meters.
To walk the floor is safe, firm rock and the views from its summit are beautiful.
9-Making nudism
Fuerteventura is a good naturist destination. Some of the nude beaches are those of Cofete in Morro Jable, Sotavento and in Dunas de Corralejo there are also appropriate sectors for this.
10-Take the coastal walk from Morro Jable to Costa Calma
We recommend starting the hike an hour before low tide. The distance is about 17 km along the coast and lasts about 6 hours. You can contemplate beautiful landscapes and make beautiful photos.
